چکیده

A characteristic type of reticular cell, the dense reticular cell is described and illustrated by electron microscopy in the thy mus and lymph nodes of mice. This cell is identified by its high nuclear and cytoplasmic density and by the presence of many ribosomes in its long, slender processes extending between lym phocytes (or thymocytes). The preservation of these processes requires special fixation procedures. Best results are obtained with Karnovsky's fixative, which combines paraformaldehyde

Light and electron microscope studies of organs and tissues of the New Zealand Black (NZB/BL) strain mice with lymphoid leukemia and autoimmune disease.

Light microscope studies of organs and tissues of 10to 12month-old leukemic NZB/BL strain mice revealed changes characteristic of lymphoid leukemia and autoimmune disease. Electron microscope studies of ultrathin sections of lymph nodes, spleen, liver, bone marrow, thymus gland, kidneys, and lungs of the same leukemic mice demonstrated immature and mature murine leukemia virus particles of the ...

Direct contact between reticular fibers and migratory cells in the paracortex of mouse lymph nodes: a morphological and quantitative study.

Transmission electron microscope observation of mouse lymph nodes demonstrated that reticular fibers in the paracortex were invested not only by reticular cells, but occasionally also by migratory cells such as interdigitating cells, macrophages, and lymphocytes. Quantitative analysis of electron micrographs covering wide areas revealed that about 90% of the surface area of the reticular fiber ...

An electron microscopic study of the leukemia virus in AKR and hybrid mice inoculated with ascites passage or tissue-cultured leukemic cells.

Various organs and tumors from AKR and hybrid mice and leukcmic cells grown in tissue culture were studied by electron microscopy. Only spleen and thymus were examined in fetuses and newborn mice. In adults, solid tumors, lymph nodes, and ascites cells were also studied. AKR mice dying of spontaneous leukemia showed typical virus particles (Types A and C) in their lymph nodes. No virus particle...

An Electron Microscope Study of Lymphatic Tissue in Runt Disease

The thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes were studied in runt disease induced by a graft of intravenously injected homologous splenic cells into newborn rats and mice. Adult Long-Evans cells (70 x 10(6)) were injected into Sprague-Dawley rats. Adult DBA cells (7 x 10(6)) were injected into C57BL/6 mice. Runted rats were sacrificed at 14 to 28 days of age; mice at 10 to 20 days. The thymic cortex is ...
